Whether you’re swapping on Uniswap, parking cash in DeFi, or wiring money across borders, odds are you’re dealing in USDT (Tether) or USDC (Circle) — both tied to the dollar.

But that might change. Nine European banks, including ING, UniCredit, CaixaBank, and Danske Bank, have teamed up to launch a euro-backed stablecoin . The plan? Roll it out in 2026 , under the watchful eye of the EU’s shiny new MiCA regulations.

This is big. It’s not some scrappy startup trying to reinvent money — it’s Europe’s banking establishment stepping directly onto the crypto stage. And the implications stretch from Brussels to Binance.

Why the Banks Are Doing This Now

Let’s start with the obvious question: why now?

The answer is simple: regulatory clarity . Europe’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework is live, and it lays out clear rules for e-money tokens (i.e. fiat-backed stablecoins). Ethos V5 Quantum Walkthrough: A Quick Guide

We recently just released a Youtube video that covers a walkthrough of how Ethos quantum v5 works!

If you haven't had time to check that out, no worries! Here’s a quick written guide to help you explore the current state of Ethos: V5 Quantum.

Home & Portfolio

When you open the app, you’ll land on the home screen. From here, you can:

View your overall portfolio
Tap “View All” for a breakdown of each token by percentage
Add favorites to create your own token lists

Markets

The Markets screen makes it easy to see what’s moving. You can filter by:

Market cap
Price change
Networks
Categories
Timeframes

It’s all organized so you don’t need to jump between apps to check price data.

Quick Actions

At the top of the home screen are three simple buttons: Send, Receive, Buy .

This is where you get into the meat and potatoes of trading!

Buying crypto with fiat is done through Circle, which highlights USDC as the easiest way to use Ethos’ gasless transactions.

Through Onramper, you can also purchase and swap into other tokens right away.

Swapping Tokens

Trading is handled in the Swap menu, with two options:

Basic Mode: for quick, simple swaps
Enhanced Mode: for Ethos token holders, with extra privacy features
Choose your tokens, check the quote, then decide between a regular or gasless transaction.

Rewards & Status

Ethos includes built-in ways to reward activity!

Quests for completing simple tasks (like setting up security)
Tokens earned through trading
Emerald status and higher tiers for holding Ethos tokens, which reduce trading fees

Security & Recovery

Managing your wallet should be safe and straightforward. V5 Quantum includes:

Social Guardians, who can help veto malicious recovery attempts
KeyGuard, which turns recovery into a password-reset style process
Multiple storage options for seed phrases and private keys

Staking

Stake ETH directly through RocketPool or Lido inside Ethos — no extra apps or browser tabs. Track rewards and manage your stake right in your wallet.

News Hub and Campaigns

Our News Hub and Campaigns are two features that are currently being worked on and fixed!

The News Hub allows for user to check live market data and crypto news directly in the app without needing to leave.
Campaigns are how you can earn extra rewards through community promos, partner collaborations, or trading competitions!

Passporting Under Threat in the EU
Under MiCA, license “passporting” allows crypto firms regulated in one EU country to operate across the bloc. But France (and others) say some licenses are being obtained in weak states like Malta, with lax oversight. They’re pushing for oversight to shift to ESMA to ensure consistency and investor protection.
UK Considers Stablecoin Caps

In our last post, we answered “What is Ethos Cortex?” — a powerful AI companion for saving money, making money, staying safe, and simplifying crypto.

Now let’s start explaining How, starting with Phase 1.

The Engine Behind Cortex

We plan to quickly iterate Ethos Cortex to quickly evolve its intelligence to be the most useful AI engine in crypto. We foresee several significant phases behind this development, and we've already started with the first one: RABA-Powered Agentic AI.

Phase 1: RABA-Powered Agentic AI.

Market Data, Intelligence and Analysis: The first phase will involve connecting multiple streams of data and intelligence into Cortex. This includes signals such as crypto prices, on-chain asset movement, social media posts, newsfeeds, trending tokens and other key market sentiment data.

We call this process Retrieve, Augment, Broadcast, Amplify or "RABA" for short. In this process, data is gathered and organized into a "Neutral" database and is then analyzed and broadcast by agentic AI across different channels. You may have noticed this with some of our AI personas like News Nancy and Degen Dan, who will analyze and comment on the same data in different ways.

Our goal with this is two-fold: 1) Create interest and awareness behind the Ethos Defi Project, and 2) To create a super-useful news and market intelligence agent that will be imbedded inside the Ethos app.

This Phase is well under way, and we are ramping up testing and usage of our agents in the field. The next step will be to connect the intelligence generated by this process directly into the Ethos Defi app.

We are pleased to share important and exciting news about the future of Ethos.

Acquisition of Ethos business

We have reached an agreement with Avrio Worldwide (Avrio) to acquire the existing Ethos business to merge with its crypto platforms, and benefit from their vast global industry and regulatory network, to create a new company called Ethos Defi.

This partnership ensures the Ethos vision will not only continue but will accelerate with Ethos’ proven market leading DeFi technology, which will be owned by the shareholders of Avrio and Zircon Global Technologies - the company that owns the Ethos IP. Investors who participated in Zircon’s SAFE rounds including Republic will receive new shares in Ethos DeFi.

Avrio is a global financial services technology company and the owner of a U.S. registered broker dealer and Alternative Trading System (ATS), including a Quotation Bureau, a Qualified Matching Engine, a Transfer Agent, an RWA-Tokenization platform, and a public market Order, Exchange, Portfolio, and Customer Management System.

The partnership is well timed as new US crypto laws are passed, digital asset firm IPOs are significantly outperforming opening offering prices, real-world asset tokenization is taking off, and the SEC Chair’s comments are favorable to DeFi operators: “the right to have self-custody of one's private property is a core American value.”
